I am a woman owned small business owner of a construction company. I am writing to you today to shed light on an impact and a dire situation that has come upon our family business and is greatly affecting our livelihoods. .
I am a mother of 2 trying to keep everything together and hold everything up. I am currently struggling with the financial burdens of inflation and a lack of work to single-handedly shoulder the responsibilities of caring for our children and managing and operating our family owned business.
Over ten years ago we built a steel company from the ground up and we were starting to thrive. However now, the burden of keeping our business afloat has become exceedingly difficult. The financial strain and mounting debt has pushed us to the brink of bankruptcy, threatening the livelihoods of not only our family but also our 30 employees who rely on us for their livelihoods.
I share these details of our struggle not out of self-pity but to emphasize the depths of our financial burden. Our story now is about the ripple effects that have been increasingly damaging throughout our family and our business.
