My wife has always wanted to adopt a little Chinese girl. In China, baby girls are slaughtered everyday to control the population. After years of coaxing and praying for me, I finally came around, and we are now emotionally ready to take on this call. The only thing standing in our way is a mountain of debt: apx. $100,000 with 50k in unsecured debt, and 50k in student loans. Part of this was incurred in some bad luck in the past year, when our business failed. Part of it was also incurred by immaturity with money, of which we have learned our lesson, and have vowed to never take out another loan for anything again. At this point, it seems hopeless that we will ever get this debt paid off before we reach retirement age, much less in time to have the years to contribute to an adoptive child.
